Future 500 is a 501(c)3 that builds alliances between left and right, business
and activists, to drive solutions in four leadership areas:
- ENERGY (Price on Carbon)
- RECYCLING (Extended Producer Responsibility)
- WATER (Agricultural Subsidy Reform)
- HUMAN RIGHTS (Technology to Undermine Repression)
We expect our campaigns to expand in 2011, and have several positions that we
expect to be funded next. Applicants must be skilled, experienced, positive,
energetic, and enthusiastic about working with traditional adversaries to
drive genuine solutions.
Media Coordinator
Goal: Hire person responsible for coordinating organization's marketing communications by aligning, coordinating and generating Future 500’s external media communications, both social and traditional.
S/he will work across programs to: create content, develop brand, streamline messaging and create a comprehensive media strategy.Key Responsibilities/Necessary Tasks/Duties:
- Update, streamline and enforce consistency of Future 500 brand. Including, but not limited to: website, logo, PPTs, blogs, events, e-newsletters, twitter/FB
- Coordinate and ensureconsistent messaging across organization's social media communications (Twitter, Facebook, Linked-in, e-newsletters, blogs, online groups)
- Maintain and develop conferences calendar, pursuing speaking placements of staff and corporate/NGO network allies at strategic conference, and manage existing and forge new strategic marketing conferences
- Manage and develop media target lists and place stories with targeted media (traditional and/or online)
- Work with staff across all programs to create a continuous stream of content
Responsibilities
- Must be based in San Francisco/Bay Area, able to come into office two days a week
- Must have experience working in media AND on environmental issues
- Someone intellectual facile to juggle multiple tasks and to understand the range of sustainability issues encountered in our programmatic work
- Highly organized and able to prioritize competing deadlines and manage expectations
- Someone comfortable engaging NGOs, corporations, and media representatives
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined to execute in a flat organization where leadership takes hands-off approach but is available as needed
- A Doer. Someone resourceful at figuring out how to get tasks done but not afraid to seek help
- Someone who embraces responsibility rather than seeks to fly under the radar
- Succinct and clear speaking and writing skills
- BA and minimum of three years relevant work experience (recent writing samples relevant to our work and references from recent work experiences will be requested)
