2012 Oddie Award
What is the Oddie Award?
An annually presented recognition of an outstanding agreement between an NGO and a company on a sustainability issue. We like to think of it as the Odd Couple, with a Future 500 twist.
Though often adversaries, non-profits and companies are increasingly realizing that they can find ways to see eye to eye – perhaps not on everything but at least on a particular issue.
Future 500 wants to highlight the inroads being made by leading NGOs and companies who are overcoming the cycle of demonization and sitting down together to take a real step forward for corporate social responsibility.
Eligibility
- Agreement must have been sparked by conflict – for example, a direct campaign against the company
- The company must have made a change after engaging with the NGO
- The NGO must have reduced targeting of company as a result of agreement, though they may continue to campaign against other companies
- Agreement must have been made in the past year
The Process
We’re calling on you to nominate examples. To submit a nomination for the award, please summarize the agreement and how it fits with the concept and eligibility criteria in 500 words or less. Please send your text and links to relevant websites to Rebecca Foges at by October 15th.
The nominees will be voted on by a panel of exceedingly distinguished experts – Future 500’s staff and board members.
The award for the winning nomination will be presented at the annual Future 500 cocktail fundraiser in Q1 2012.
